Feeling thankful for long winters

Everyday this week the sun has been shining, and it keeps fooling me into believing it will be a warm day. They  haven’t been.  A part of me was disappointed when I realized I needed a jacket today. Not just layers, but layers and a jacket. The long winter combined with the slow progression to spring; almost makes me a bit grumpy. So I spent a few moments (okay, about thirty minutes) on pinterest this morning. Does anyone else do that, go look at pinterest while drinking coffee in the morning?

Anyways, I found this picture…

I’m ready for hot days, and warm nights filled with… lights; get togethers with friends and family; and hopefully, a few romantic dinners with my sweetheart.  I will savor every magical moment.  This is why I’m thankful for long winters, they make me appreciate the hot, humid summers more. Does anyone else have a slight “obsession” with outdoor globe lights?  To me they are magical!

A secret tattoo infatuation

Which makes sense for me to share it here with, well, the whole world…right!

I guess I’m just ready to confess and to see if anyone else out there feels the same way.  Do you ever find yourself wanting to get a tattoo? This girl does!

Yet…..There are so many things to consider such as placement and design and the designs meaning. Then there’s the fact that it’s FOREVER. If it’s going to be permanent – it needs to be unique + awesome + have meaning + be invisible when I need it to be. Now, that is an impossible mix!

Here are the reason’s why I haven’t gotten a real tattoo.

  1. My mom
  2. commitment phobia
  3. I can’t decide on the details
  4. Someday my skin will be saggy
  5. And when I’m old and in a nursing home and some young’un is giving me a sponge bath, I fear they won’t be able to do a good job because they will be trying to figure out what my tattoo was.

So what’s a girl to do? Temporary tattoo’s!!!! No, not those goofy looking tattoo’s from vending machines. I’m talking about some really cool ones I found on Etsy. Yippee for Etsy!  Here are a few of my favorites.

Spotted: Better Life Bags

Have you ever found yourself looking for a specific type of bag?

A camera bag.  A laptop bag… or a large enough bag to carry around everything you think you might need. When traveling I take books, notebooks, my camera, knitting projects and a dozen smaller items with me. I might have a problem!  (Don’t tell my husband about my admission.) Mary Poppins’ bottomless carpet bag where are you?

Oh, there you are!  The carpet bag is functional, but not quite, ahem, my style.  Does it seem like you can never find one that is stylish and functional?

While perusing Pinterest the other day, I saw a bag that seemed big enough and  it was definitely stylish. The pin led me to the Better Life Bags shop.  I fell in LOVE!  Better Life Bags are stylish, functional and you can customize them!  Exciting, right!

Now that is some serious eye candy! Rebecca has fabulous basic designs, and I would buy any of them pictured above just as they are now. Stylish, check. Functional, check. Wait there is more…when shopping online, I usually want to know more about a company.  Better Life Bags mission is to make lives better.  They do this by hiring women, who otherwise are not able to obtain employment, to make their bags.  You can read more about their mission and how they give back to their community here.  I LOVE it when a company has a beautiful spirit and a fabulous product.   I’m sold and I will hopefully be ordering this lovely bag (with the darker chambray) in the near future.
